From Deptmore Lock the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal heads north before turning (In true Brindley contour hugging tradition)to the south east. I'm assuming that the houses we pass are Baswick which may be a district of Stafford.

"Blind Hannibal" MacSlackbladder strikes again, ignoring the mighty bypass weir unpleasantness and going full steam ahead for the lock.
I've seen folks in narrowboats twat all sorts of things and have twatted most of them myself but I've never seen any bugger actually WEDGE a narrowboat in the jaws of a lock chamber.
Only MacSlackbladder can do this!
